the finished-a-book-cleaning-frenzy

Wow, where does the week go from Monday to Monday?

At least I have something fun to share with you this week. The book I finished writing earlier this month now has a cover, and I'm tickled pink over it. Here it is at right. What do you think? Isn't it a great addition to the series? (Hopefully you can click to see the full sized version.)

Since I finished writing A Matter of Character (June 2010), I've been trying to get my house in order. So many things get left undone when a writer is on a sprint toward the deadline. At least that's true of this writer.

This past week, I accomplished something big, with my dear youngest daughter's help. For the past two and a half years, since moving into my new home, half of my garage has been filled from front to back with boxes stacked a minimum of chest high, along with an old file chest, some miscellaneous items not in boxes, etc. I knew there were things in that mess that I wanted to keep, but I also knew that there was plenty of stuff that could go to the second hand store or be thrown away. We worked like dogs and managed to fill the entire bed of Jennifer's pickup truck with donations. Garbage cans are now overflowing, and there is a stack of broken down boxes for the recycle truck to pick up Tuesday.

The sense of accomplishment is awesome. My one regret is that I didn't take a "before" picture of the mess I've lived with for 2-plus years. All the same, I'm sharing an "after" photo (above at left) even though you can't possibly understand the full transformation.

I'm feeling invincible (LOL, for the first 12 hours of this post, it said "invisible;" not sure what Freud would think of that slip). Who knows what will be next? The pantry? The hall closet? With any luck, this urge to clean will continue for another week or two. A girl can hope, can't she?

  3. Robin, oofta, could I relate... I'm on deadline, and hubby is counting the hours 'til it's done because we need to get over to the house we're selling and complete the cleaning-out process. Of course, that means more stuff coming over here and figuring out what to do with it... The moving thing seems to last forever! Congrats on getting your mess tackled. :o)

  9. I love the cover too. As Sept. rolls into Oct in the NE, we welcome the fall colors.

and I can relate to that freshly organized feeling! It is one of those things that gets put off but boy does it feel good to complete.

What's next for your books, Robin?

  10. Debra, I've got more historical romances to write, a stand-alone followed by another three-book series. Also, a number of possibilities are rolling around in my head since attending the Re:form conference on world crises. Time will tell what rises to the surface and grabs my attention.
