Girl Time

I'm just back from some fabulous girl time, which means I'm rejuvenated and pumped up, but not at all rested. Serious girl time is hard work, ya know!

I've returned from an annual writers retreat that I treasure and look forward to all year long, only to have our days together pass far too quickly.

Here's our own Robin Lee, on her scooter (since she broke her ankle), and she's wearing a hat (which she wears so well).

Me hugging on Sharon Dunn, with Sunni Jeffers in the background doing who knows what...

A great shot of Francine Rivers (lovely in purple) and Janet Ulbright (one of my lovely walking buddies while there).

Gayle DeSalles shared bits of wisdom from God's Word with us about "clearing the land." Gayle's a treasure and always has a smile at the ready.

Francine sitting beside Brandilyn Collins, catching a laugh, something we did a lot of this past weekend.

The fabulous Karen Ball setting us straight on something, or trying. What a fun and talented lady Karen is. But please, oh please, don't tell her I said that! I have a reputation to uphold with that woman.

Brandilyn Collins and her precious Mama Ruth. Mama Ruth and I flew out together from Nashville last week, and I loved traveling with her. You won't find a better travel buddy. Love you, Mama Ruth!

And lastly, me with our sweet Robin. How fun it was to room with her and see her pretty smile. I always enjoy our late night chats. And you should see her getting around on that scooter. Amazing!

These dear ladies helped me brainstorm my next two books in the series I'm currently writing, and wow! are they ever talented. They gave me such wonderful ideas and really helped to flesh out the stories. Now I can't wait to write them. Robin had an especially great idea for a character in the third book, but shhhhh....we'll keep that under wraps for now. Thanks, Robin!

Especially grateful for girl time, and all my sisters. You included!

  1. Tammy,
I LOVED the pictures and you girls looked like you had a wonderful time. Especially glad to see our Robin and to see her smiling. I am sure you were a blessing to her. God is so good, He knows just what we need and when! Glad you had a good time and looking forward to reading you newest book.
    Love, Veronica

  2. Thanks, Veronica. And yes, isn't it good to see Robin's smile again... I spoke with Judy (waving to you, sweet Judy) and it was good to hear her voice and to hear her "hope," too. We grieve when we lose those we love, but we do not grieve as though who have no hope. You understand that quite well, I know. Much love to you!

  3. Oh, what fantastic pictures of you and the "girls." Karen, Brandilyn, Mama Ruth, Robin, Franny, Sunni, Sharon, Gayle. Amazing ladies...all of you! And I've met you all at least once. :) Great to see Robin up and about and getting around on that cool scooter.

I've often dreamed of having an annual writer's retreat, but I'm still looking for those close writing bosom buddies who want to share that kind of time. Will keep praying God will bless me with them as he's blessed all of you with each other. Thanks so much for sharing. I know y'all are energized, renewed, refreshed, and ready to rock and roll. Ok, that's enough "R" words. Time to get back to writing. :)

  4. I'm joining you in prayer, Tiff, for God to lead you to that right group of women for a writer's retreat, as you said. This was a God-orchestrated group, for sure, and one I treasure. I still look around the table and wonder why on earth they asked me to join them, but I'm there and I'm not leavin'!!!

  5. I don't blame you, Tammy. Once I find that treasured group, I won't be leavin' them either. You've got a great bunch of ladies, and you only add to their "amazing" status. :) Keep supporting and lifting up each other. Thanks for letting us share in your special moments.

BTW, LOVE the group shot. That has to be at Brandilyn's home in Couer d'Alene. I'd recognize that view anywhere.

  6. Happy Tuesday Tamera! So happy you got to have some girl time, and bless and be blessed by your "ink sisters" in the Lord! A writers retreat is a fabulous idea, and would definitely be something I would greatly anticipate, too! Thank you for sharing some awesome pics with us, and it was so wonderful to see Robin there, too :)

And how exciting that they helped you brainstorm your upcoming books! Can't wait to read them! And I got to read an excerpt from "Within My Heart" the other day, and WOW, it was WONDERFUL!! You already blew me away with just those few pages and I got to add 2 more of your quotes to my journal!!!

Praying your day is beautiful and you get some much deserved rest :)

    Blessings,
    Amanda Stanley

  7. Judy, if you are reading this, please know that you have been in my prayers. Hope that you are doing well. My husband went to be with the Lord 8 years ago, so I know in some way how you may feel. But also want you to know that Christ is faithful and the Holy Spirit IS the true Comforter. Take care of yourself dear friend. We are in this journey together, with the Lord by our side...
    One day at a time,
    Veronica

  8. What a great bunch of photos! It looks like you all had a fun time and even got some brainstorming done. Yes, finding writer friends who share that love is such a treasure. So glad to see Robin is getting around and able to travel there to be with you all.
    Blessings!

  9. Hi Tammy!

What a wonderful time you girls shared. I am sure that none of you even had time to draw a breath!
Your description made me feel I was there too.
I love all the authors blogs and can't wait to open up the computer each day.
Glad to hear Robin is coming along well and dear Judy is always in my thoughts.
    Keep up the good work.
    Cheers for now

  10. Love the "ink sisters", Amanda. So true... We take time to brainstorm each other's next books during the course of the weekend, and really have a great time as we do. Thanks for the kind words about WMH too. I hope you enjoy it!

I've passed your comments along to Judy. I know she appreciates your continued prayers.
