New Covers and Old Friends

Warning: hodgepodge post. Meaning I've got several things to share. I just hope at least a couple are of interest.

First! the cover of my next book, A LASTING IMPRESSION. It releases this fall, which will be here before we know it. It's the first book of three in the new Belmont Mansion series. More on the story later. But I wanted to give you a first peek.

I'm more than pleased! Now what do you think?

Spoken from the Heart By Laura Bush(A)/Laura Bush(N) [Audiobook]Next, if you're an audio book listener, I highly encourage you to check out Spoken From the Heart by Laura Bush. I just finished it this weekend and it's marvelous. I visited countries on the other side of the globe, spoke with government leaders, gained glimpses into back rooms both in this country and in those foreign that changed me forever. Thoroughly enjoyable and heart warming. And filled with hope!

The HelpAnd just in case you missed The Help on audio book... Wow! What a treat. I'm listening to The Help again in the mornings as I get ready, just for fun. The voices and the writing are stellar. And the characters are like old friends I'm meeting up with again. Their voices, their laughter. I'm lovin' it! The story line is both hilarious and heartbreaking. A winner all around.

Do you have an audio book recommendation for me? Please share!

Tammy

P.S. Liz Curtis Higgs has a new book out and it's fabulous! Click to watch the book trailer for Mine is the Night that Liz narrates herself. Beautiful! She's got a great voice for radio. Maybe I'll tell her... :)

  1. Ack! I didn't realize Liz's book had come out! I have to go get it!! Loved "Here Burns My Candle!" Can't wait for your next book either! Living in Nashville, I love going to the old historical places...and haven't made it to Belmont Mansion. Sounds like I have to call up my buddy so we can make a trip!

I just finished The Help last month. It was such an awesome story. Maybe I should try the audio book.

  3. Hey Tammy!
The cover for your new book is GORGEOUS! Did they use your daughter as a model? Looks like her, especially the hair...very pretty. Can't wait to read the book! So exciting!
Will check out "The Help" heard it was a good book.
Hope all is well with you and your family. How's your Dad? I think of him often, wondering how he's progressing since your Mom's passing. Praying for him.
And how's Jack? Hope you're treating him well, if not tell him he can always come and stay with me and Bruno :-)
    Have a great Day!

  4. Great post Tammy, what a stunning book cover..you should be so thrilled with it!

I must say your ex Presidents' wives certainly make a name for themselves! Laura's book looks very interesting. Glad to hear you visited countries on the other side of the globe. Did we rate a mention?! (I am going to read it) and I am sure Hilary Clinton, (I realise you didn't mention her in your post) must have written something too!
She gave a great interview on Aus TV this morning( just had to give her a few accolades too!)
Have not had the pleasure of listening to any audio books of late, but will have to try and find some for my Mum and then we can both listen.

Thanks Tam for a "beaut" (Aussie slang) post as usual!

  5. Good morning Tammy! Even though I commented on your new cover over on your personal blog, I HAD to also comment here *grin* - - It's BEAUTIFUL!!!! Truly one of the most stunning book covers I've ever seen (and I honestly mean that). WOW! Now....just cannot wait to read this next book! ~ I had wondered if that was Liz's voice on her book trailer! And you are so right--she could do radio with that voice. ~ Have a wonderful week and continued prayers for your writing to flow smoothly (I feel certain little Jack is a big help as you write *wink*). ~ Hugs from Georgia (where our weather is dreary today--but at least it's not a BLIZZARD!), Patti Jo :)

  7. Thank you for the audiobook recommendations! I've joined the club now that I'm driving so much for work and I've loved the results! ;-)

I highly, highly recommend The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins - it is YA but appeals to any reader. The writing, the action and the voices are so stellar, it feels like it was made for audiobook.

Just a forewarning: You will get hooked and be unable to turn it off!

    God bless!

  9. Good grief! you're having a party over here and I've been in my cave! Thanks for your comments and encouragement. So glad you like the cover. Now to make the story live up to what the cover promises! Ack!

Here Burns My Candle is out in March, I think, Catherine. But you can preorder it now. Just follow that link in the P.S. and it'll take you there! Wonderful book!

Yes, Joy! DO check out the audio book for THE HELP. I loved reading the book but the characters absolutely came ALIVE when listening to them. Oh...so good!

Dad's doing okay, Veronica. He has good days and bad. And during these grey days of winter, with rain and snow and scant sun, there are admittedly more bad ones. Not "bad" though really. You know what I'm trying to say. Just really sad ones. He's currently in ATL but will be home on Saturday. Looking forward to having him back!

Rosie, I read Hillary's It Takes a Village years ago and enjoyed that. I've got George Bush's audio book coming up next. Actually, I already started it while walking the other day. It reads like it's going to be just as insightful as Laura's.

Patti Jo, Nashville is a tad "dreary" today too. I put on Beyonce a few minutes ago just to perk up. LOL! I've got a fire going now and am writing away. Or, am about to! Praying for your back and continued healing. And for some sunshine!

The Hunger Games, Nicole. Got it!! Will download that one on your recommendation! Thanks!

Thanks everyone and as I read your comments I prayed blessing on you today!

    You're loved,
    Tammy
