I'll blame it on the caffeine

I feel a tad ADD in this post today, but I've got lots of little tidbits to share...

First, Joe and I took a wonderful trip to the Biltmore House last week, a long overdue anniversary celebration and a much needed getaway, and it was such fun!

The history of Biltmore is well worth exploring and––what great timing––guess what! Deeanne Gist's Maid to Match e-book is now FREE on Kindle! And the NOOK (thanks, Veronica, for asking). Act quickly. It won't last, I'm sure, but what a fun read, and its backdrop is the historic Biltmore House.

More pics from our trip can be seen here.

Next, look what my sweet editors sent me yesterday....

My wonderful editors at Bethany House Publishers,
Charlene Patterson and Karen Schurrer,
are holding the first copy of A Lasting Impression

There were days I thought this book would never end, and days when I think Charlene and Karen wondered too. But they were so kind and supportive through it all, and the book is so much better due to their suggestions and creativity, as well as those from my agent, Natasha Kern. I loved the research involved (and included) in this story and am thrilled that I've got two more books to write in this new Southern mansion series.

And now––I told you I felt a tad ADD––for the winners of the books I listed last week. Thanks to everyone who left a comment, and Judy, give me a drumroll from Kansas...

Seeds of Summer by Deborah Vogts goes to KAREN
Blood Secret by Lisa Harris goes to CATHERINE
House of Secrets by Tracie Peterson goes to JULES

If you fabulous gals will send me your snail mail addresses (via my website contact form), I'll get your books mailed this week. And Robin, I'll see you soon, friend, as we're headed on the same trip. I won't say where we're going exactly but Bon voyage would be appropriate, and I can hardly wait!

Blessings on your Tuesday,
Tammy

P.S. An excerpt from A Lasting Impression is now up! If interested, you can read the first two chapters here.

  1. So excited to have won a book! Thanks so much to all of you who continually encourage us to read more and find new authors! Perfect timing, too...I've been working on some continuing education hours online. And just found out that it wasn't just one page of questions, but three pages of things to fill out, including case studies. *face palm* Thank you!!

  2. Yay, Catherine! Send me your snail mail and I'll mail your book this week. Sorry about those extra pages of questions, but Judy said she'd be more than happy to help you answer them. Toss them her way. She's such a dear... :)

  3. She is a dear! Thanks Judy! Have you done research with voice disorders and short-term/long-term goals? It would be great to hear your expertise!

Tamera, I've sent you my snail mail address through your website. Let me know if you don't get it :-)

(Obviously I'm procrastinating on this stuff!)

  5. Oh Tammy---your new book is absolutely gorgeous, and I'm so looking forward to reading this one (and thrilled you're planning to write two more in the series---anything in a southern setting is dear to my heart *grin*). ~ Glad you and Joe had a nice trip to the Biltmore House--even though I attended a wedding at the Grove Park Inn a few years ago, we didn't have time to visit the Biltmore, and I want to go back! Love that area of NC too. ~ Bon Voyage on your trip (you and Robin please try to stay out of trouble *wink*). Love, Patti Jo :) p.s. Could you please send me some of your ENERGY?!?! You seem to have sooo much and I could use some these next few months! ;)

  6. Got your address, Catherine. You're too fast for me this morning, girl. Caffeine notwithstanding. And while Judy is certainly multi-talented, I'll admit I was kidding earlier on her helping. Though I'm sure she would if she could. It seems to me one of our regular Writes of Passage pals is in speech pathology. (?) If she's reading this, maybe she'll speak up (no pun intended). My daughter was a speech path major for a semester in college but I'm doubting that will help much. : (

Veronica, I just looked, woman, and it's your lucky day! Maid to Match is FREE ON NOOK TOO! Woohoo! Here's the link (to copy and paste): http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/maid-to-match-deeanne-gist/1100377355?ean=9781441211866&itm=1&usri=maid%2bto%2bmatch

Patti Jo, I'm still smiling about seeing you in STL, and running around a little with Judy. That was fun. We'd be dangerous on a road trip! I'll confess that I've felt so much better in recent days, and do have more energy. I think it's a combination of things but (on the advice of a writer buddy who sometimes "forgets to breathe"), I've started taking COQ10. Not the really expensive kind but the Costco kind. I have no clue whether that's helping me or not.

It may be just having another book done (a book that was especially challenging for me) and the weight of that off my shoulders. Or it could be that fall is in the air. Or it could be that I'm exercising every day now, which has always given me more energy. Go figure... There's a spiritual/life lesson in the "exercising giving you more energy," I'm sure. But I digress...

And I need to get to work! The clock is ticking.

Love and appreciate you gals so much!

  7. Oh well...hmmm, well, Robin did post yesterday "there's a story here"...so maybe one of ya'll could write about a character with a voice disorder :P Teasing, of course!

I admit that I don't usually read all the comments. I'm a speech pathologist, but maybe there's another one around :-) Anyway, I completed the case studies and am waiting for my results. *crosses fingers* I told my husband that if I don't pass for the CEU, then I'm not redoing it! I'll just find another 2 hour course to take! XD

Have a blessed day! Time for me to get my tail moving this morning!

  8. Don't laugh, Catherine...we may just do that! And we'll know who to come to to learn all about it. And yep, I know you're a speech path, but I thought there was another one among us. Lingering...ever so quietly. ???

Praying you pass those case studies! But even more (as Robin prayed for me so many years ago), I'm praying God's perfect will for your life. Because there's nothing better than being centered in the middle of His will, and nothing more miserable than being outside of it. Let us know what comes, K?

Getting my tail in that same gear...

  9. Just got the word! I passed it! :-) I'm now two hours closer to my 20 hour goal for the next two weeks! And this is what happens when you slack through the year! XD Thanks for the prayers!!

  10. YAY Catherine! So happy for you! Off to make an iced latte in your honor!

  11. Quick Tam! Please send me some COQ10.. even if it is from Costco. I sure could do with some, whatever it is!:) Have you seen the commercial on TV that we have over here..."I want what she's got!" A perfect caption for me wanting your COQ10! :) It's hysterical to watch!

So glad you and Joe had a lovely celebration at Biltmore, it looks fabulous..somewhere else for us to visit on our next trip.

Love the look of your book too and I did enjoy reading the the first two chapters, can't wait for it to arrive in Aus...it will take six months or more to get on the shelves here!

Just looked at the time and Iam well OVERDUE for my shot of caffeine!
    Have a wonderful day/night!

  12. COQ10 on it's way, Rosie, careening through cyberspace to down under! I don't recall that commercial but I do recall that line in another movie called When Harry Met Sally. Oh my... Quite funny.

Grab that caffeine! I'm headed for decaf tea now...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Gee Tam! I'm out of caffeine..had to have mint tea instead..doesn't have quite the same kick, but was very palatable. :)
I think I know the movie that you were referring to(bad English I know, so accept my apologies) did they have a restaurant scene, where the "said" action action took place? The mind boggles! (grin)

I think the COQ10 is still careening to "Down Under" ..has a huge distance to travel! :)
