A Taste of Heaven in the Shadowlands

Last week at church, I bought four extra copies of the new worship CD that our worship leaders recently recorded. It's fabulous! All the songs are ones they've written and composed, and I'd love to give away those four CDs this week to anyone interested.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and include something like "I'd love that CD," then I'll randomly choose four names next Monday night and post the winners of the giveaway next Tuesday.

One of my favorite songs on this release is Never Once by Carl Cartee with Ronnie Freeman. I tear up every time we sing it at church. I also think of this community we share here at Writes of Passage and of the losses and struggles we've shared, and about how––never once––has God left us on our own through any it.

Here are some of the lyrics to Never Once...

Standing on this mountaintop
Looking just how far we've come
Knowing that for every step
You were with us

Kneeling on this battleground
Seeing just how much you've done
Knowing every victory
Is your power in us

Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Yes, our hearts can say…
Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did you leave us on our own
You are faithful
God, you are faithful

Every step we are breathing in your grace
Evermore we'll be breathing out your praise
You are faithful
God, you are faithful
You are faithful
God, you are faithful

I'm so grateful God has given us the gift of music, and that he's gifted certain members of his body with the ability to write songs such as these, and the voices to lead us in praise to the foot of His throne. It's a sweet taste of heaven here in the shadowlands.

You can sample the songs on iTunes too. Just go to the iTunes Store, type in Fellowship Songs Vol 3 and it should pop up. And again, just leave a comment with "I'd love that CD" and I'll toss your name in the hat. Or you could always go ahead and purchase it for $4.95 through iTunes if you don't want to wait. : )

I did some baking last week too. Surprise, surprise. You can see the fruits (or tassies) of my labors here. I love making these little things. They're so good!

Do you have a favorite worship song that's really spoken to you recently? If yes, I'd love to know!

Blessings on your Tuesday,
Tammy

P.S. And to continue our wineglass theme from last week, I bought a fun new wineglass yesterday from which to drink my wine of the South. I found it at a lovely little boutique called Hot Pink in Brentwood. A fun (and dangerous) place!

  1. Cute wine glasses!! :-) I am always looking for new music, so I would love to have a new CD. As to a worship song that's really touched me lately, I can't point to one. However, I recently heard "We are the Reason" sung by Avalon...wow! I've heard it before, but it really struck home.

I also love "In Christ Alone." Such a powerful song. There is this group I used to go to church with, High Road, made up by Sarah Davison and Anna Grace Kimbrough (another girl, Vickie, has joined them). God has blessed them with such a beautiful musical talent. Had to pull out their CD just now to start listening to it before work!

  2. We love music around here. My children ask me to turn music on as soon as they get up in the morning!

  3. This is the worship song that has ministered to me lately:
    http://grooveshark.com/#/search?q=Holy+Spirit+Rain+down+Alvin+Slaughter
"Holy Spirit, Rain Down" by Alvin Slaughter
Takes me right in to the Presence of the Lord, and the song becomes a prayer...
Worship...I LOVE to worship our Lord and King! And I would LOVE to have that CD! The words are so on point!
I saw your Tassies on your other blog and I think I left some drool over there, so be careful! Didn't have a Wipe at the time! LOL I know, I know, borderline gross! LOL
And LOVE the new "wine" glass my friend, makes me now want to go out to Home Goods and look for some cute ones...the polka dots are sooooo delightful!
And lastly, yes, so thankful for our "community". The Lord knew just what and who I needed when I started reading the books of the authors here on "Writes of Passage" and then to extend that into a friendship! HE IS SO FAITHFUL !
    Have a great day!

  8. Loving these worship songs y'all are suggesting. If I already have them, I'm re-listening to them and praying for you as I do.

If they're new to me, I'm visiting iTunes to sample and download, and praying for you then too. Thank you!

Veronica, I wondered what that "moisture" was.... TMI!!!! : )

And yes, Rosie, how are things down under? All good, I hope.

  9. Great post, Tammy (LOVE that cute wine glass--so fun!! Also love the name of that shop--maybe since PINK happens to be my favorite color*grin*). ~ One of the first songs that popped into my mind (that really draws me closer to the Lord) is one Catherine mentioned: "In Christ Alone" - - Oh my!! LOVE that gorgeous song. ~ @Veronica--am still giggling over your "drool" comment, friend! And I agree...Tammy's treats look wonderful! Hmmm...have you thought about writing a cookbook, Tammy? "Tammy's Tasty Treats from Tennessee"? Just a thought...~ And Rosie, praying for you, sweet lady, and hoping things will look brighter soon (and sending a HUG from the states). ~ I hope this won't sound silly---but I truly feel I'm among precious FRIENDS on this blog--I always enjoy the posts AND the reader comments. Sending hugs from rainy, dreary GA this morning, Patti Jo :) p.s. Would appreciate a quick prayer that I'll get everything done for my Amy's Dec. 10 Wedding---including "minor details" such as buying a Mother of the Bride dress, putting together the favors, etc.--the date is approaching TOO quickly!

  10. Rosie, just saying a little prayer for you over in Tennessee. And CatMom, praying that God will give you more time than it feels like in order to get it all done :-)

Hmm, cookbook from Tammy? Yum! I bet she has many more recipes to draw from then she's letting us know!!

  11. My, my, but you gals have been busy this morning! One of my favorite songs is How Great is Our God. However, I'm not throwing my hat in the ring for the CD--that should go to one of you wonderful blog readers. BUT--I'm throwing my bid in on one of those wonderful wine glasses. It's good you didn't give us a place where they could be ordered online or I would have been busy doing some shopping. I'm not even going to comment on all that baking. Tammy bakes and stays slim. Tammy bakes and I gain weight!

My prayers are with all you gals. ~Judy

  12. Wow, could I use some praise music right now. Would love this CD. Thanks for being a blessing. Just finishing A Lasting Impression. Great job as always.

  13. LOL! Judy! So true! (Me, not you!) And Tammy, I'm not signing up to win the CD, but I REALLY want that wine glass!! Any chance you could make IT the giveaway if you draw my name?? Pretty please?? ;)

  14. Judy and Deborah, we just need to have an author getaway to Nashville, TN. I may not be an author, but I'll gladly help provide the food. And then, Tammy can show us all the cute shops available around here! Yeap, I think it's a great idea *nods* :-D

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey Catherine--I did make a brief stopover in Nashville when my daughter had to go to Florida last year. Tammy did an outstanding job of squeezing in as much food and fun as she could in my brief stay. However, I think another visit must surely be in order soon. I'm thinking the Kansas contingent of authors could just about fill her house. :)

  16. Judy, I remember you making the trip, because I found out on the blog afterwards and was extremely disappointed I didn't get to meet you. :-( Definitely all for another get together ;-) Gosh...now how do I get all of you ladies over to my house? I have quite a few books missing some autographs :-P

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, if we don't get the trip arranged, we'll just have to send you some signed bookplates to put in those books, Catherine. I'd much rather meet you in person, but bookplates are an option. :)

And Deb--I may have to arm wrestle you for that wine glass!!!

  19. I often think music is the reason I still have faith. I really don't know what I'd do without it.

I'd love to win this CD :)

  20. Hi Veronica!
Thank you for your concern friend.
Yes I'm ok but feeling very sad.

Our beautiful Canadian friends left to return home yesterday after 4 wonderful weeks together and we had a rather tearjerking farewell at the Airport.

Bev is just like a sister to me and our hubbies are great mates which is wonderful. We have been fortunate in so much, that we have seen each other for the last four years, but the thought that we may never meet personally again, has hit us both very hard this time! Who knows what sort of state our economic climate will leave us in and also if our health holds up(not good English, but you know what I mean) Money doesn't grow on trees unfortunately, but I am praying that somehow God will show us a way in which we can achieve meeting again and also I badly want to come back to the States to see ALL my old American friends and some new ones too.:)

I know this sounds like "All about me, want, want etc." and must sound very selfish, but this is how I am feeling at the moment. Our house seems so devoid of the laughter to which we have become accustomed...and very quiet!!!

My children and grandchildren built up a fantastic rapport with our friends too, which was so great, from the oldest to the youngest(aged 4)

Bev says she has been completely "blown away" by coming here and they will never forget it and that endears them to us more than ever! :)

There! I have spared you all nothing in this saga and I apologise for rambling on so much, but I do feel a bit better now, so a big "Thank You" from me! You are all wonderful "sounding boards!":)

Veronica ,I have been meaning to say,"I love your new photo friend!" :)

@ Patti Jo, I feel exactly the same as you do about feeling as though you are amongst friends, (hence the saga)Hugs to you too!

@ Catherine, thanks for the Prayers sweet lady. I appreciate it!

    Love you both! :)

  21. @ PJ! I meant to say you have my prayers that EVERYTHING goes smoothly for Amy's wedding.and I KNOW you will look GORGEOUS as "Mother of The Bride!" Will be thinking of you.:) Can't wait to see the piccies!

  22. Rosie, talk about "A Taste of Heaven in the Shadowlands..." Your post sounds just like that to me. You're longing for the time when there will be no more goodbyes, no more tearful partings, and no more emptiness inside. And it's coming, dear friend. That time is coming! But until then, we do hurt here. We grieve. We feel a restlessness. No way around it. Because this isn't our Home.

I'm praying that God will fill the void inside you with His peace and comfort. Turn on some praise music and let it fill you up, crowding out the sadness, or at least alleviating a bit of it. And know that you're loved! By everyone here!

    ReplyDelete
  23. And gracious, gals, to the rest of you. You've been talkin' up a storm while I've been writing––and burning popcorn in my microwave. Oh, the smell. But it's better now due to some remedies friends posted on my FB Wall (http://www.facebook.com/tamera.alexander). The mulling spices on my stove are heavenly!! I should do that all the time.

I wish I could share my wineglass with you gals. Well, with everyone but Judy. : ) Maybe I'll do a wineglass giveaway soon. That would be fun!

Patti Jo, it's funny you mention a cookbook. I've always wanted to do one of those. I confessed that to Christy Jordan (www.Southern Plate.com) the other night and asked her to please not laugh! I LOVE her cookbook. It's just the sort of thing I'd love to do. It's fabulous!

As for that Writes of Passage Get Together, I'm game!! Come one, come all! AFTER I finish this next book please. ;)

Praying for Dec 10th, Patti Jo!

Kerry, thanks for the reminder of Blessings. SUCH a powerful song. Listening to again now. Then back to work...

  24. Tam, you've hit the nail on the head ! That is EXACTLY how I feel. I hate saying "Good bye" and wish like crazy we didn't have to, but I know that one day we will all be together again. :)

I DO feel loved by you all and I cherish that feeling. Thank you so much for your words of comfort Tammy and I AM going to put on that music!

    Love you too, Tam!

  25. Rosie, glad you posted to let us know how you're doing. I know how you feel in a way. I had family for Thanksgiving for the first time in years and after everyone left, I was beginning to feel depressed...BUT I had some worship music on and as I tuned into that, my spirit began to lift. And instead of feeling sad about those I missed, I began to focus on how good God is for allowing us the time we DID have together. It's not easy and I surely don't have it all together, but worship DOES work. Praying for you that the Lord will comfort you my precious friend. The Lord is working in all of us to help us become whom He wants us to be and I believe He has allowed us to cross paths to encourage each other. So, be encouraged...Love, Veronica

  27. Tammy,"I'd love a new CD." I love worship music. I also love when music moves me to tears. I feel so close to my Savior at times when listening to music.

Thank you and wishing you a Merry Christmas!

  29. I have just finished reading Susan Meissner's A Sound Among the Trees for a second time and this song would be so applicable! Thank you. I would love to have this CD.
I also plan to get a special tea glass for myself too!
With my son's passing this June, the Lord has definitely given me peace and from years ago, "You gave him as a child, I hold him as a man." has come true for me. He loves us with an everlasting love. We are His.
    Be blessed today.

  30. My favorite song
I Worship You Almighty God written by Sondra Corbett Wood
    lanehillhouse[at]centurylink[dot]net

In writing in response to wanting the music CD, I forgot to mention my favorite worship song. After hearing it by Kent Henry, I was looking for the words and found by Sondra Corbett Wood. Our daughter babysat her daughter as a two-door down neighbor years ago. This song brings me into the Presence of the Lord.

    Today is my happy half-birthday!

  31. So grateful you gals are sharing your (current) favorite worship songs. They're blessing me.

Lane, I'm praying God's continuing comfort and peace for you in the loss of your son this summer. I look forward to meeting him when I finally reach Home.

Love and appreciate y'all so much...
Now for a brisk walk outside, then to work. I have far to go in the next forty days of completing this first draft and am eager to get back to it.

  33. I love worship music. After Attending the Passion conferences for two years in a row, I've fallen in love with the Tomlin and Hillsong type music. Mostly love the Passion CDs though. Might be because I can hear all 22,000 of us worshipping together on it. And I LOVE listening to any worship song by Christy Knockels.

  34. Hi...hope I'm not too late to enter! I would love that cd! I honestly haven't bought a cd in ages. I feel like I used to be so up on current music trends but our town doesn't have a good Christian station so I'm out of the loop. I love Keith and Kristin Getty (hope I spelled that right!). They wrote songs like, "In Christ Alone" and "Creation Song". Very worshipful.

  35. I love new worship music... it always brings me to a fresh new perspective with Christ and I'm always so thankful. Right at the moment I'm enjoying belting out Oh Holy Night in my car on a daily basis, but I'll definitely have to check out the worship CD if I don't get one :-) (And I love the wine glasses!)
