It's Time for CHRISTmas!

This is my most favorite time of year. I love CHRISTmas. I love the colors, the lights, the music, the shopping (because I love giving gifts), the snow (when we get it), and--mostly--I love the "reason for the season." Forget this "Happy holidays" nonsense--it's "Merry CHRISTmas" for me!

Since I turned in my story the week before Thanksgiving, I've spent the last couple of days sprucing up my house for CHRISTmas. I'm not exactly a decorator. But I like what I like, and I spread it around.

As you step in the front door, you're greeted by my Precious Moment Nativity
and a sweet figurine of a boy giving his heart to the baby Jesus.

In the living room, the nativity I purchased
when my oldest daughter was three sits atop the piano...

...and a third nativity--wooden figurines carved by a German craftsman--
huddle below a word representative of what Jesus came to give: HOPE.

And this sweet little scene sits on the coffee table in the living room.
The angel shines its "heavenly light" on the Baby Jesus.

This year's CHRISTmas tree is done all in purple and gold--
the colors of royalty!
I smile every time I look at it.

What is CHRISTmas without angels?
These sweet Dreamsicles sit at one side of my china cabinet...

...and an assortment of angels fill the opposite side of the cabinet.
Their little faces are all so sweet.

Yes, I even have a collection of Santas.
After all, St. Nick enjoyed gift-giving as much as I do. :o)

And my final collection is made up of snowmen.
Snowmen are so cheerful--I filled my school classroom with them.
(The stockings are one of my craft projects...)

A few more snowmen greet visitors who head downstairs to Hubby's man cave.

Getting my house decorated for CHRISTmas put me in such a good mood. While I decorated, I sang. One CHRISTmas song after another--"Away in a Manger," "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing," "Joy to the World," and "Silent Night." I sang until my throat hurt, but I didn't mind. I love those carols.

Yep, I love CHRISTmas--the time of year set aside to focus on the most precious Gift ever given: a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

May God bless you muchly as you focus on Him! ~Kim

P.S. -- If you click on the pictures, they blow up to make it easier to see them. :o)

  1. Kim, I totally agree with you about the "Happy Holidays" it is definitely "MERRY CHRISTMAS."
Just thought I would point out that really, the word Holiday, was derived from the words "Holy Day, which makes it a little more acceptable given the meaning.
It will always be "Merry Christmas " for me though,as those words have a very special meaning to me.
I share a birthday with "Him Above,"and what a very special day for me to to celebrate! :) Speaking of birthdays, our two daughters share Dec 17th. :)
I loved your Christmas piccies of your Nativity Scenes( you've done a great job arranging all your little figurines and they look a treat! Looking at the all those stockings made me smile. Just what our mantel piece looks like, when our 11 grandchildren hang their stockings.

Oh yes! St Nick definitely visits our house. :)

    Lovely Post Kim.

    Blessings to you.

  4. Your decorations are gorgeous! Love all the nativities! This is the first year I've been able to put up the whole Willow Tree nativity at our home, and it covers the fireplace mantle! :-) And it's nice to know I'm not the only one who color-coordinates! The tree is a mish-mash of things since I worked at Hallmark for 9 years. It's impossible NOT to buy their ornaments when they're staring you in the face every time you're working! But Erik and I also each make an ornament each year to add to the tree. This year, though, I color coordinated the presents in blue, silver, and white! Gorgeous! So proud of them! And then we found out that the presents must be hidden the the closet since we found the cats chewing on all the bows. So, it is empty under our tree :-(

  5. Rosie, what a special day to be born--on our Lord's birthday! Awesome!

Merry Christmas to you, too, Debbie. :o)

Catherine, I had to laugh at your "chewed bows." Yes, I spotted teeth marks on one of my bows, too. I suspect it was Frances... No mousie in her stocking this year! LOL

  6. Ilove all your CHRISTmas decoration and the way you group them! The tree is magnificent; it makes me smile as well. But I have you beat on the nativity scenes. I have 8 or 9 ranging in size from about 1.5 inches to a foot in height. I LOVE CHRISTMAS and all that it represents for our world.
May your family be wonderfully blessed during this CHRISTmas season.

  7. Debbie! Another nativity collector! I don't have nine...but I do have seven, from very tiny to the German one, the tallest of which is 10". Aren't nativities a wonderful reminder of Jesus' humble beginning and His willingness to serve exactly where His Father directed? Enjoy your CHRISTmas decor. :o)

  8. Merry Christmas to you and all your family. I love Christmas too. I always look forward to celebrating Christmas Eve during the service at church. This year will be at a new church, but the reason will be the same. I have one large nativity scene. It is ceramic and I made it years ago for my mother. It took me 3 years to make it all, but now it is set up on top of the media center. Everytime I pass by it I smile remembering how much my Mother loved it. I too, love snowmen, I have a very, very large collection of them all over the house. I have a small tree covered with mini angels. That is my favorite tree in the house.
Thank you for sharing your home with us.

  10. Kim, yes, chewed bows. The story goes that Erik heard chewing while he was doing his devotional, he grabbed the squirt bottle, and soaked Immy. He sits back down and within a minute, he hears chewing again. This time, it's Zara he soaks! He sits back down, hears chewing and soaks Immy again. They were alternating! Scoundrals!

Poor Frances, not getting a mousie in her stocking. Maybe I should send her one since Santa won't leave it :-P

  11. Catherine, Frances would no doubt appreciate it. But the other kitties might be jealous. LOL!

  12. Love your decorations, Kim. The tree is gorgeous and, of course, there had to be a touch of purple! :) My favorite nativity is a Fontanini set that my mother began for me years ago. Both she and Jim gave me pieces to add to it each Christmas which makes it even more special.

And that tree decorated in purple and gold is so beautiful--WOW!! ~ I love Christmas too (and have been playing lots of Christmas music lately--sometimes I sing along, but I think my kitties prefer only the CDs playing *grin*). ~ Thank you also for this reminder of WHO this glorious season is truly about--Merry CHRISTmas!! Hugs, Patti Jo p.s. About an hour ago my mail lady came and brought a package to me (from Kansas!). OH MY!!! Did you hear me giggling??? A "Crazy Cat Lady" mug---SOOO CUTE!!! :) LOVE it !!!

  16. I SO love Christmas time...I admit to being "ba-humbug" about the extra busyness and chaos surrounding the holiday season. But our Lord is SO quick to turn my self-focused eyes back to Him, the miracle of His Son's birth over 2000 years ago...an d how without that, where would I be?

Our family always decorates for Christmas on Black Friday (or the next day if there's a lot of shopping to do. ;) ) and we just got and decorated our tree today! Its sitting proudly in our livingroom window packed with photo ornaments, "ancient" ornaments and many memories. I loved seeing all your holiday decor! <3 Precious moments!
