What do dancing, swine, birthdays, and mansions have in common? Nothing really, but they do in this post...
If you haven't seen this bit by comedian John Branyan yet, oh...it's so funny! And it truly does showcase the power of words, and also the differences in how people spoke in the 18th and 19th century versus more recent times...
And now to take a real step back into the 19th century...

Rachel McRae (of LifeWay) and her sweet BFF Cindy visited me at the Belmont Mansion (if you've read the book, we're currently standing in a guest bedroom on the main floor that now serves as the gift shop). Rachel posted the funniest blog about her visit!
I had the wonderful privilege of meeting some fabulous women from Henderson, TN. They are... (from L to R): Adana Buttrum, Bonnie Hendrix, Sandy Thompson, Bridget Self, Kristen Hicks and Becky Willis Welch. (Bless you gals for driving all that way!)
LOVED meeting Lynne Young, a FB friend. Thank you again, Lynne, for coming to celebrate Adelicia's Birthday, and to see her gorgeous home.
Pictured with "Adelicia" (Hali Krewson who made a perfect mistress of Belmont), and friends Melodie Garrison and her sweet daughter Maddie. We had such fun!
So…confession time! Did you watch Dancing with the Stars last night? I did! And if you did too, I'd love to know what you thought and who your favorites are. There were so many I enjoyed, it's hard to name them. But I especially liked Gladys Knight (love her music), Melissa Gilbert (I'm a Little House on the Prairie fan from way back), and Jaleel White (remember Urkel?), and Katherine Jenkins (oh that woman can sing!), and Sherri Shepherd (she's just so happy!), and Gavin DeGraw too (love his music as well). Such a fun season opener!
So come on, who are your DWTS favs?
Tammy

Looks like you had an absolutely wonderful time this weekend! I can't tell you how badly I wanted to go, but was out of town. (By the way, I did upload the pics from Falcon Rest to my Facebook)
ReplyDeleteI have loved DWTS in the past, but I never watch it any more. Don't really have the time or we have other things going on. *sigh* Plus, I don't think Erik cares to watch girls in skimpy costumes dancing across the TV :-P I know, I know...I could watch it without him, but we're one of the unusual couples who love doing EVERYTHING together, lol!! If I had to vote for someone right now, it would probably be Jaleel...LOVE that he's on DWTS this season :-)
Totally understand about Erik not wanting to watch that. I wouldn't encourage it either, quite frankly. They need to wear more clothes. No doubt about it. It's a show that Kelsey and I either watch together––such fun mother/daughter time. The ongoing commentary between us is as entertaining for me as the show, if not more so! But if she's not coming over, I'll save that as my exercise time and the hour just flies by!
ReplyDeleteWill head over and look at your Falcon Rest pics today, Catherine. Blessings on your day!
Wish I could have been at Belmont to enjoy the 'doin's." I forgot DWTS was on last night so I didn't even get it recorded--The Voice won my television time last evening. However, I will get with it and start recording one or the other so I can opt in with my snarky opinions in the future!!
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures and the post, Tammy. i also headed over to Rachel's blog and enjoyed that, too. Thanks for sharing! Love your novels.
ReplyDeleteAh, I'd love to see Melissa Gilbert! Always loved her on Little House!
ReplyDeleteLove, love the tale of the diminutive swine! "Nay, not by wit nor whiskered jowl!" Too funny!
What a fun party! Thanks for sharing those photos with us, Tammy. But I do have one question: Was there CAKE?? Just curious if there was a birthday cake to enjoy, LOL. ~ On DWTS I only saw the very first couple dance, and that "Sugartown" song brought back memories *grin*. I would've enjoyed seeing Urkel though--when my kiddos were much younger we LOVED watching Family Matters every Friday evening--fun memories! ~ Hugs, Patti Jo
ReplyDeleteJudy, next time I'll call you to remind you, woman. Missed your snarky comments. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne, for visiting here AND Rachel's blog. Double duty deserves a double cyber latte!
Wasn't that clever, Linda? I loved it too. How did he memorize all that??
And Patti Jo, it was fun to see Urkel again, all grown up. And honey, he can dance! ;)
Finally got to see the "Three Diminutive Swine" video. Started watching it, then Erik got home, and I made him sit down to see it. Hilarious! Sent it to his parents for them to enjoy :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, Patti Jo! There were delicious little cupcakes––and cookies and popcorn and punch and lemonade. All yummy things!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness.
ReplyDeleteThe video of John Branyan, Three Diminutive Swine was indeed rather hilarious!
Haha, I was surprised by the vocab fact though!
Thank you for sharing!
<3 Essie :)
So glad you enjoyed it, Essie! Pretty impressive, huh?
