Linda and I had a blast chatting and whispering and trying not to make too much noise (not an easy task, I tell you) in the media room where others were also gathered. And Linda's sweet (and not-just-a-little-bit snarky) gift didn't help either. It was all so nice…except for the Duck Tape! Which has a story behind it.
Long story short, this past fall I hosted the first Book Banter on Bethany House's FB Page, and FB eventually "banned" me that day for over commenting. Can you imagine? Banning me from talking?! Well, a while later that day I came back to find that the lovely Miss Attaway had posted the picture...
The nerve. I mean, really! It's hard to get any respect these days. <VBG> Click to read the original post. Now, back to Linda's almost-but-not-quite-fully-lovely gift...
Wasn't this sweet of her!
And the candle! Remember the Creamy Praline Pecan Pie I posted about a while back? This candle smells so much like that pie. Yum!
And the Longhorns were delicious. They were plane flight fodder, and so much better than Southwest's peanuts.
Don't you love the "fork" votive holder? Perfect for pie and too cute! Bless you, Linda, for your kind snarkiness. Not sure which trait I like better, woman. : )
Don't you love it when a friend goes the extra mile to make you feel special? What's something you've been given that's made you feel special? Or what fun (and maybe snarky) thing have you done for someone else to let them know they're loved?
Blessings on your Tuesday,
Tammy

LOL I have *many* friends who go the extra mile--in snarkiness & in sweetness. ;) I am incredibly blessed by all the snarks, sweethearts & those in between in my life.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Meghan! We're incredibly blessed!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love that fork votive. When the candle gets to smellin' too good, the shape of the fork keeps you from diggin in, but makes you wish you could.
ReplyDeleteSomething I received that made me feel special? Let me count the ways...or times...there are many. Even if our 'love language' isn't 'gifts' I think all of us get a special boost when we're remembered in some unique or unexpected way. An Australian clock, a needlepoint picture of sunflowers, and a basket of home grown tomatoes are a few that immediately come to mind. I delight in the gifts I've received, but I cherish the friends behind any of those gifts even more--even the snarky ones. :)
Well said, Miss Judy. And so true... Looking forward to your blog post tomorrow. Sorry! I took a peek! It's sooo good!!
ReplyDeleteAww, so honored to be your post for the day! You make me smile! Hugs!
ReplyDelete(And just for the record, it drives this word geek crazy that they call it duck tape! It's supposed to be duct tape! LOL)
It may be "Duct" tape...but with the duck on the front, no wonder people call it DUCK tape! :-P
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet gifts :-) Isn't it wonderful to have such special friends?
Oh that is just so fun! I met Linda for the first time at ICRS this year, and she is the one who actually just pointed me to your blog here! By the way, Tamara, I had you book signing circled and underlined in my schedule for my time in Orland but had a conflict I couldn't reschedule. I will try again next time! Would LOVE to meet you.
ReplyDeleteLinda is great fun and that was a very thoughtful gift - even the Duck tape. However, when you titled it about "snarky friends" I thought maybe you were giving Judy a hard time again. :)
ReplyDeleteTracie
LOL Tracie--I too, thought this post would be about poor Miss Judy (don't worry, we were ready to "defend" you Judy!).*wink* ~ What great gifts Linda gave you (yes, even the duck tape!). ~ I'm very blessed with friends who do sweet (and funny) things for me. Two years ago before entering the hospital, my 4 "besties" from high school presented me with two adorable little stuffed cats--they knew how much I'd miss my real kitties while in the hospital. The entire 3 weeks I was hospitalized, those kitties stayed by my side and were such comfort to me (Really!). So a gift that had begun as kind of a joke actually served a wonderful purpose. ~ Thanks for sharing, Tammy. Hugs, Patti Jo p.s. Hmmm....now I'm craving Praline Pecan Pie... ;)
ReplyDeleteTam! You are too funny!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm going to have to find "Duck" Tape to put on ALL my Quackers! LOL. :)
Y'all make this blogging such fun! I love our camaraderie! I'm just wishing (Patti Jo) that we could be sharing one of those pies together this evening on the back deck. Then going for a nice long walk to exercise a bite or two of it off. : )
ReplyDeleteAnd take my word for it, Judy doesn't need any help defending herself. She's quite capable of that on her own. Have y'all not seen the woman's evil eye? Gracious! I shiver just thinking about it...
= )
I also meant to say that I feel truly blessed with my friends both home and abroad.
ReplyDeleteOne of my greatest enjoyments is the fun that we have on this Blog and I have my eldest daughter to thank for that.
If she hadn't given me the "Pullman" series for a gift, I probably would never have had the opportunity (or nerve)to become involved with any of you sweet authors. Our Judy paved the way, by encouraging me to "look in on Writes." I am so thankful I did and you all made it so easy for me to respond to your Posts. I felt the warmth, friendship and caring nature of this blog from day one! I feel as though I've known you all for ever! What a Blessing that is for me.
Love you all. LOL!:)
Hi Tammy, sounds like you had a blast spending time with your friends at the conference. Love your gifts! :-) Well I must say that I have been blessed to have been given lots of gifts over the years by my 2 best girlfriends, that make me feel special. I have one girlfriend that remembers the important dates I had with my late husband and she either sends me a card or flowers. And just today I felt special because one of my colleagues at work gave me a gift card for my NOOK and a Cannoli cake for my birthday. The large cake was scrumptious and from a favorite Italian bakery. Her thoughtfulness was overwhelming! As far as moi doing something snarky, why I don't have a snarky bone in my body! LOL! Ornery maybe but not snarky! ;-) have a great day!
ReplyDeleteRosie, I'm so glad you and Judy crossed paths and that she led you to us, or us to you! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Veronica, ornery and snarky are awfully close cousins there, woman! ; ) Happy Birthday too! Wish we were there to make you a delicious peach cobbler and sit around and watch (or talk back to) a chick flick! What fun that would be. If not here, then at Home for sure.
Love you all, and blessings on this Wednesday,
Tammy
Happy birthday, Veronica! Wish I could share one of those huge ice cream cones with you. What fun that would be!
