Quick!!
Name every sheep poem or song you know.
Baa Baa Black Sheep?
Little Bo Peep?
The Lord is My Shepherd?
My newest release, A Hidden Truth, has very recently hit the bookstore shelves. Perhaps, however, the real hidden truth is that after writing this book, I’ve now got a baaaaaaaaaaaaaad case of sheep affection. Sheep played a major role in this book and in the lives of the good folks who lived in East Amana. It has made me increasingly aware of how much we need the touch of the Good Shepherd in our lives, too. So to celebrate the release of A Hidden Truth, I’ve sent out a flock of traveling books.
For those of you who haven’t seen my newsletter or read my website contest page, let me direct you to here where you’ll discover that I’m doing something a little different with the release of A Hidden Truth. I’ve sent out some traveling books that I refer to as “sheep” since sheep play an important role in this book.
There is a contest among the recipients of the traveling books, but I’m also going to have a drawing on December 15 and select 50 random entries to receive a small gift from among those who fill out the form on my contest page and include their name, email address, and tell me their favorite character or some way the Good Shepherd has touched your life.
I’m also going to be blogging throughout the next several months to update you with some fun facts about the traveling sheep. I wanted to start out by telling you that the sheep have escaped from their flocks!
I knew something had gone amiss when I saw a group of ornery sheep pretending to guard several copies of A Hidden Truth. Everything appeared much too organized. Right then, I should have realized those weren’t cute little sheep. They were wolves in sheep’s clothing planning to help my sheep escape. And help they did!
They loaded those books into the car and off they went. All eleven sheep (books) were delivered to the local post office and have now departed their flocks and scattered themselves across the country—all except for the ornery Australian Merino who still hasn’t reached his destination. They even convinced one of our local postmen to help with their plan. Can you believe he even agreed to a photo-op?
If you want to know where the sheep (books) are beginning their travels, you can check their travels at here. I hope you’ll return frequently because I’ll be updating their progress. I’m hopeful they won’t tarry in any green pastures for too long. We want to keep them moving and wagging their tails behind them.
May you find joy as The Good Shepherd directs your path. ~Judy

Smart Lady my friend! I would never have thought of running a contest such as this!
ReplyDeleteThe ornery little Aussie Merino,DID arrive in our paddock yesterday. He is very well travelled already and will be able to show his US cousins where he has been.BAAAALOL!
As far as the nursery rhyme is concerned ,I have thought of Mary Had A Little Lamb..only in this case it is Rose Mary Had A Little Lamb.
She will be the Shepherd Watching Her Flock By Night, because for all the US cousins, it will be daytime! LOL
Fun post today, Miss Judy! For years I've loved sheep (yep, they're right up there behind "Cats" on my favorite animals list, LOL). So I'm happy to see you've also developed a fondness for the wool-ey ones! ~ Have recently started reading A HIDDEN TRUTH and love it, of course! ~ I tried to think of a sheep-related pun, but alas--the novacaine that has numbed the entire left side of my face has spread to my brain too, I think *wink*. Just thankful to have this dental appt. behind me (waving at Tammy and hoping she's better today after her dental work!). Although when I stopped by my bank a few minutes ago I think the nice bank teller thought I was sneering (when I try to smile only one side of my mouth goes up*sigh*). Thanks again for sharing today--am looking forward to reading more of your book! Hugs, Patti Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Rosie,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll be tending your sheep with great care! Glad it arrived without jumping ship--or parachuting out of the plane. :)
Patti Jo, I do hope you're feeling much better by tomorrow. Visits to the dentist are way down on my list of favorite places, too. Tammy's been mighty quiet, so that tooth may be slowing her down a bit. And I'm having internet problems so I keep hoping I can sporadically get on line until Thursday when the repair guy is due. Take good care of yourself!
Judy, sometimes you are too cute for your own good. LOL! I love you, lady.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea, Judy! I am so looking forward to keeping track of those flocks. I'll confess to having a soft spot for the Cotswold flock, since they started out in Arizona. But then I noticed that Rosie is in Flagstaff Hill . . . and Flagstaff is the largest city in the northern part of the state. Rosie, I think that makes you an honorary Arizonan! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim. Same back atcha. :) I just hope I can keep track of those ornery critters for the next few months!
ReplyDeleteHey Carol, those ornery sheep must be even smarter than I thought. The Cotswold made it's way to Arizona! We'll see if it remains in Arizona or decides to seek out some greener pastures--although I must admit those AZ pastures look pretty green in that picture you sent! (Carol sent me the "rear view" picture of the sheep grazing in AZ.)
Great post, Miss Judes! And yes, this tooth is slowing me down some. But I'm on the mend! : ) I'm also writing, writing, writing on the second Belmont book. Loving the story. Just wishing I were further along. Story of my life. NO pun intended!
ReplyDeleteWe've been having internet problems to boot too! Comcast guy comes tomorrow to see if he can fix it. Hope this post goes through... Our service keeps going up and down. : (
Hey Carol!
ReplyDeleteI'll be proud to be an honary Arizonan, especially as we are headed for Mesa next year to begin our US tour. Why Mesa? Well we have some very dear friends who have recently bought a house there and they migrate to Mesa each winter to catch the sun! I csn hardly wait and yes.. we will be seeing the beautiful desert AND I DO want to visit FLAGSTAFF! LOL!
Rosie, if you're coming all the way to Arizona, I think that makes it official. : ) If you get a chance to visit Flagstaff--or any place else in the northern part of the state--please let me know. I'd love to give you a hug in person!
ReplyDeleteCarol I certainly will be in touch. I would love to meet you and return the hug!:)
