A mélange of treats!

I'm excited about posting today because I've got some goodies to giveaway! And I love giving away goodies.

First, From a Distance, the 2009 Christy Award winner and the first book in the Timber Ridge Reflections series is free for a limited time on Kindle, Nook, and iBook. If you haven't read it, I hope you'll grab it. And if you have read it, nab it for your eReader, and maybe tell others about it too. I'd sure appreciate it!

Next, I recently ran across Sense and Sensibility, one of my all time favorite movies (has anyone not seen that yet, oh so good!), on sale for $5 at Target and couldn't resist! So…I'm giving it away this week.

If you're interested in entering the drawing for the DVD Sense and Sensibility, simply leave a comment on this post by next Monday night at 6PM Central, and you'll be entered in the drawing.

If you want to leave a comment but aren't interested in the drawing, feel free to do that too, just say you're not interested. Go ahead…be rude. We're fairly forgiving here at Writes of Passage. Well, all except for Judy. You have to watch her! Anyway… I'll draw the winner of the DVD next Monday night and post the name next Tuesday.

Lastly…

Some Southern history and another chance to win a copy of To Whisper Her Name, the first Belle Meade Plantation novel that releases October 23. All you have to do to be entered in the drawing is to share this week's video vignette that was filmed on location at Belle Meade in anticipation of To Whisper Her Name's release.

This week's video (Week 3) is about the thoroughbred history of Belle Meade in Nashville…

Be sure and let me know on my personal blog where you share this week's video, and your name will go into a hat for a hot-off-the-press copy of To Whisper Her Name once they're ready.

I sure hope fall is making its way to your door like it is here to mine in Nashville. I've already broken out the boots with jeans and am lovin' it! I even treated myself to a pumpkin scone yesterday. Delicious! I didn't even begrudge the two miles I had to walk last night to walk off one and a half bites of said scone…

What is it about fall that makes me want to bake everything pumpkin (cake, scones, pies) under the sun. Love it! What's your favorite fall treat?

Blessings on your Tuesday! And in honor of the anniversary of September 11, why not do something especially kind for someone today? Someone you don't even know. Pass along His love and hope…

Tammy

  1. Tammy, you are such a hoot! And I say you DO have a heart of gold (sound like a recent fortune?), though Judy may say otherwise! This is the first day in quite a while I've been able to sit down and actually enjoy the blog posts. To all of you ladies out there, I am still around and still keeping up with the blog, but so tight on time these days that I don't usually have much time to skim through the post, much less comment. Makes me sad, because I miss you all!!

Patti Jo, we're still on for November, right? :-P

I'll come out and be rude...not interested in the DVD. I do have the BBC version, which I really enjoy, so no need to get another copy of the movie. Plus, if we got another DVD, our shelves may explode!

I hope everyone has a blessed day this 9/11. Praying for you all!

  2. Hi Tam! Enjoyed your video as usual. What a magnificent horses they are and the brown fella in the stable is a little beauty! As for the Plantation it is truly picturesque and I'm enjoying hearing the history of Belle Mead too.:)
Loving these series on your posts.

Oh yes! About those pumpkin scones in Fall...What culinary delights are you going to hang out for, when Winter arrives!?? LOL

  3. I love that movie. We already have that DVD and my mom and i enjoy watching it. I hope whoever gets the movie enjoys it also.

It is turning to autumn here in Upstate New York. I have added my quilt back on my bed and yesterday I wore a fleecey hoody. It was only in the 40's in the mid morning. A little too cold for me. Oh well. Guess I have to buy more sweaters and blankets, and do more baking :)

  4. LOL, Catherine. You're gettin' snarky. Been hanging out too much with that Judy! : ) Praying that even amidst the busyness, you'll have moments of sweet (and needed) peace!

Rosie, it's a gorgeous setting, for sure. And the history is amazing. Wish we could share a pumpkin scone!

Hoodie lovers of the world unite, Freddikb! I love hoodies. And hoodie-wearing weather is my all time fav. And you're in upper state NY? I JUST now finished facetiming with a book club from upstate NY! Fabulous gals! I posted a pic on my FB Page of us facetiming:

  5. What's the deal with these folks already having or not wanting that movie? Do they think you have cooties?! LOL

I'm not afraid of your snarky germs - bring 'em on.

We've had a taste of fall here, too. The low in the mornings has been a crisp 70 and the high has only been around 90. Such a breath of fresh air! LOL No hoodies for awhile in Texas!

  8. OH NO!!!! Blogger "ate" my entire comment I posted last night....Since I had no computer yesterday until late in the day (well, I had a computer but the screen was black and wouldn't do anything*sniff*) I posted a nice lengthy *wink* comment--including telling you, Tammy, how much I LOVE your Belle Meade videos! Oh well, I'm just thankful my computer is working today (knock on wood, LOL). Hugs, Patti Jo

  9. No way...I couldn't believe it when I saw you were giving away Sense and Sensibility! It's one of my favorites and I don't have it on DVD. I would LOVE to be put in the drawing. The crazy thing is that it came on last night on tv and I was so excited...I just love pretty much everything about that movie. I even have the soundtrack : ).
I just love fall. I think of apple cider, pumpkin muffins, and pretty much any kind of cozy, warm comfort foods. Preferably of the sweet variety ; ).

I have enjoyed your videos showing Belle Meade and it's history. I'm a big fan and love all of your books. I can't wait to read this one. Beleive it or not, I have not seen Sense and Sensibility so I would love to be in your drawing for it.
    Have a great weekend!

  11. I love this movie but I don't have the dvd! Have you seen Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow? one of my favs also. The BBC Pride and Prejudice and Keira Knightley ones are both great too. Sometimes I just have a Jane Austen movie day!

  15. Tammy, I'm loving the mini history lessons you impart through the Belle Meade videos. I especially love the way you weave history into your stories so inconspicuously. I'd much rather learn through story than textbook. As for fall, I'm surprised your trees are showing so much color. Here in Asheville, NC, we haven't seen much color yet. Blessings!
