Alaska...the Last Frontier

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In the case of Alaska, they're right. There are times the imagery in this glorious corner of the world, from the landscapes to the wildlife, defies description ... even for a writer. So I'm going to let these picture speak for themselves.

Enjoy this peek at the Last Frontier!

Each day on the cruise, I photographed my morning and evening view from the balcony of our cabin. This is my favorite evening picture. The reflection of the bold gold sunshine on the water seems to paint a reflection of God's majesty.

Eli, in Fields of Grace, tells Lillian God didn't have to make the world beautiful, but He did it to please our eyes; when we pause to notice and appreciate the magnificent details of His creation, He must smile. Well, if He was paying any attention to me during my time in Alaska, I probably made Him smile a lot, because I did a lot of noticing and appreciating.

If you have the chance to visit Alaska, I highly recommend it. If you'd like to see more pictures from our trip, you'll find an entire album on my Facebook page. Please stop by and marvel!

May God bless you muchly as you journey with Him! ~Kim

  3. Absolutely gorgeous, Kim. The scenery is simply breathtaking and I'm sure you had a marvelous time!
Loved seeing the wildlife, too, but hope you weren't too close to that bear. :)

  4. LOL! I was probably 300 yards away from the bear. My camera's zoom lens was certainly put to good use on that shot...hence the hint of "fuzz" that has nothing to do with the bear's furry coat! But it was soooo exciting watching him berry-pick. I wish my pic of him standing on his hinds legs, "gathering" the berry-brambles had come out better!

  5. Cruising the inside passage is one of my all time favorite things to do. There are also some incredibly amazing places to see elsewhere in Alaska, but that inside passage is super special. So glad you got to go again, Kim.

  6. Tracie, I told hubs, "I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we ran into Tracie Peterson. Alaska is her home-away-from-home." :o)

  7. Several of my co-workers went on Alaska cruises this summer. My darlin' lived there for 4 years in his younger years and thinks it is the most beautiful place on the planet. He can't wait to get an opportunity to take me there. Montana is a beautimous state also, and I am willing to bet that each state has its own beauty. What a blessing to have an opportunity to see more. Your pictures are amazing. Thanks for sharing Kim. Blessings, Connie Sue

  8. Connie Sue, I hope you'll have the chance to experience Alaska. Yes, every part of this nation has its own beauty from the desserts to the plains to the mountains. I think its the expanses of unspoiled wilderness that speak to me in Alaska. Man hasn't intruded upon it as much as in other places, so you can get a glimpse of the way it was from the beginning...when only God's fingerprints had touched it. :o) I can't wait to go back.
