Being thankful (a little early)

Yes, I'm grateful today. And it's not even Thanksgiving. So sue me. Ahem

I'm thankful for…

Fall in Tennessee. And pumpkins!

The colors of the changing leaves...

The last roses of fall. That smell divine!

The savory scents of simmering spices, especially with my family at home with me (love it when everyone is home) Recipe for simmering spices here!

I'm thankful for the Rust-oleum paint I used to spray paint a bright shiny brass glass cart that belonged to Mom. I've always loved that cart but am not a huge fan of the shiny brass anymore. So…I painted it! Here it is in the dining room…

I love having things that belonged to Mom, then sometimes painting them and making them my own. And yet, still "Mom."

Dessert at Mere Bulles last night (warm Carrot Cake and some decadent Chocolate Cake)

Having dinner at Mere Bulles with Thomas Nelson and Zondervan friends, now officially Harper Collins Christian Publishing Division since the merger (LtoR: Katie Bond, Becky Philpott, Daisy Hutton, moi, and Sue Brower) Delicious meal and such fun visiting!

And finally…

I'm thankful that To Whisper Her Name releases today, and that the months and months and months of writing and rewriting are done. At least for now. Oh, how wonderful to finally share this book with you all. I've fallen in love with the people and setting of Belle Meade Plantation and hope you will too.

I'm also so thankful for my family and friends, for God's ever faithful nature, for the powerful name of Christ to save, and in the mysterious but welcome workings of the Holy Spirit.

So tell me, what are three things you're thankful for today?

Tammy

  1. Lovely post Tammy! And yes! I am so thankful too. I was in a department store a couple of weeks ago and saw a hand painted tile that was a part of the Fall decor that reads "Be Thankful for THIS day". I had to get it no matter the cost, simply because I want to see it everytime I walk in and out of my door.
Three things I am thankful for today: For God's unconditional, ever abiding love and faithfulness, good health and of course I am so thankful for my family. My son, his wife and my grandchildren are a blessing to me, though they live far away, I know they are there for me.
I rec'd an email that my copy of Whisper Her Name has been shipped, so I should get it any day!
Have a blessed day Tammy, and might I add that I am thankful for you and the friends that I have met here on Writes of Passage! Sending all of you a THANKFUL {HUG} :-) P.S. Love your Mom's glass cart, you did a great job painting it, looks good!

  2. I'm agreeing with Veronica, the cart does look gorgeous!

Things I am thankful for: having a job that I absolutely love and a husband who is there for me, even when I'm stressing out about the job I love :-P Having my family nearby, and being involved in a church with some wonderful people. And I do love watching the colors change on the trees as I head to work each day. God's workmanship is amazing :-)

Oh, and though it's silly, I'm thankful I can sew, as I have several people wanting/needing things done, whether to hem a dress or make flags for the church's children program, and I'm able to help :-)

  3. Loved this post and photos, Tammy--and echoing Veronica and Catherine (waving at them!) about your Mom's cart. You did a wonderful job and it looks so lovely (and I know exactly what you mean about using your Mom's things--I have such sweet reminders of my Mama (and Daddy too) in my home now). ~ 3 Things I'm thankful for today: My Savior Jesus Christ who loves me tirelessly and is so very patient with me; My precious family, friends, and...yes, my cats too...who all mean the world to me (including my friends on this blog!); The gorgeous Fall weather we've been having here in Georgia (and our leaves are so pretty--LOVE this season!). And may I add just one more? Thank you. I'm also thankful for the cheeseburger and creme-filled donut I just ate--because I know there are so many hungry people in the world, so I don't ever want to take for granted one bite of food I have. ~ Have a terrific Tuesday! Love, Patti Jo

  4. SO happy for you with the book releasing today! I know how much hard work went into it, and I'm so excited for it to get out there and be read!

I'm thankful for a gorgeous fall here in Kansas, the wonderful family God has blessed me with, and quite honestly, I'm so thankful I live in this era of internet connections so I can keep in touch with friends like you and all the gals at Writes of Passage!

Cool on the sewing gratitude, Catherine! I've seen some of your creations and customs and they're amazing! You're quite talented, young lady.

Patti Jo, I'm thankful for that cheeseburger and creme-filled donut you just ate too, but I'd be more thankful if you'd have given me a bite. Yum!!

And thank YOU, Miss Deb, for all your touches and contributions to To Whisper Her Name. You're the best writing critique partner ever, woman! The pics you've been sharing on your FB have been so pretty!! Don't we love fall?

Thanks to everyone for the virtual {{hugs}} on To Whisper Her Name's release today. SO nice to have another book out there and to share the first Belle Meade Plantation novel with you. Appreciate you all!

  8. Catherine, I was just thinking how we all prayed for the Lord to give you a job that you would love...and look what He did! WOWZA! What a tangible proof that He not only hears our prayers but gives us our real desires! You go girl with your bad self! I'm doing the "I'm so thankful Catherine has a job that she loves" Dance right now! LOL!

  9. Yes, yes! We have so many reasons to thank God!
    For His astounding artistry
    His everlasting mercy
    The bounty on our tables
    The love in our families
    The snuggles of our pets
    The delight of friends
    And CHOCOLATE, of course.

  11. So thankful that I got TWHN before I died! LOL Seriously, I am thankful beyond measure to know such an amazing author and sweet--albeit rather snarky!--sister in Christ. I'm also thankful for my health (which I do not take for granted after some recent little scares), for God's mercy and grace, for family and friends...and for duct tape! :-)

Absolutely LOVE the cart! And oh, I wish fall looked like that around here. I finally gave up and made taco soup tonight even though it was still hot. At least it was a bit of a gray day, so I just declared it fall!

  12. Love it! I get back from a business dinner with Joe and find all these comments. Love you gals more than you know. Thanks, Linda, for the kind words on TWHN. So glad you enjoyed it.

And to all you lurkers out there (you know who you are), I invite you to jump on in and comment. The water's fine and you're so welcome to this community.

Veronica, you make me laugh, woman. Love you, sis!

Love you all. Now I'm gettin' my bad self to bed. I'm beat! Southern hugs abounding…

  14. I just want to take this time to write and thank each one of you gifted writers for the special blessing you have been in my life...You have been my joy, my help, my comfort through good times and bad...I consider each one of you a treasured friend...Your words transport me to a different time and place, allowing me to escape for awhile when things are too difficult to understand...many times your words have given me insight to a problem, leading me to His promises and reminding me of His faithfulness and unending love...I believe He speaks to me, to all of us through you...I am so thankful for your willingness to serve Him in this unique way...What a blessing you are to me and to so many...As it says in Romans 10:15 How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news...May He continue to bless you and use you for His Kingdom...In His Love, Suzanne Thomas

  15. Hey Cherie! I'm so grateful you posted! Great to "see" you, and Amen! to God's mercies and goodness. They're beyond imagining, aren't they?

Suzanne, your words are a blessing not only to me, but to the others here too. We appreciate you and appreciate you taking these journeys with us. These characters are "real" to us, just like they are to you, and the transcending power of story links us together in ways I never could have guessed. And I'm so grateful!

Thanks for being with us, sweet friends.
