The editor for A Bride for All Seasons (June 2013)—a mail order bride collection with stories by Margaret Brownley, Debra Clopton, Mary Connealy, and moi—contacted the authors last week, wanting us to do a "chat" for the back of the book. We are having such fun with it! Although I'd met each of the other authors before we worked on this collection together, we've become good friends in the process. And the best news is, we're going to do another collection for next year.
One more thing about A Bride for All Seasons. Thomas Nelson did a beautiful job of tweaking the cover (shown at left) so that it's even prettier than the first time we got a look at it. Brighter and more inviting, I think.
I spent the last couple of weeks working on the line edits of Beloved (releases in September 2013). Line edits are the last chance an author has to make wholesale changes in a book, but I'm happy to say, nothing major was required. I can hardly wait to introduce readers to Tyson and Diana. I love their story, which is one of redemption and forgiveness. And trust me, there is a big need for both. I believe Tyson is the closest I've ever come to writing a "rake."
Something else in the works is a makeover for my web site. It may take a month or two for the redesign to be completed, but I'm really excited about it. I'm moving to the WordPress platform which will allow me to better integrate my blogging into the site itself.
For now, I've got a temporary landing page up (with a link to my old site so readers can still find information they are seeking). The landing page looks nothing like the final version will look, but it has allowed me to move all the posts from my other blogs (Write Thinking, Fact & Fiction, What's New in Christian Fiction, and my Thanksgiving Journal) into a single blog under Robin Lee Hatcher. That's what I did for hours and hours and hours over the weekend. Good thing I like the challenge of learning new things. (FYI, I'll be canceling the paid service that has hosted my old blogs, so they'll all go away soon.)
Anyway, I hope you'll go over to robinleehatcher.com and check it out. While there you can sign up to receive blog posts by email and/or by RSS feed.
Today, it's back to writing on my WIP. I'm eager to dig into it again. Two weeks away seems a very long time.

Hi Robin!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your new website will be great and I am looking forward to visiting it often!:)
I did visit your temporary one and felt I had to acknowledge about your DVD's travelling all those MILES!
I know exactly what it feels like, as I have had a similar experience.
I had occasion to send an Express Priority Documents Only, envelope, to the States well before Christmas. I allowed what I thought would be more than adequate time for the package to be delivered. The recommended time is 3-4 days for Express Mail from Aus, and 3-10 days Registered Post for delivery to the States.
I posted the said envelope on NOVEMBER26TH (remember 3-4 days)and then I began tracking it,but to no avail! I had been told at the time of posting, that if the package showed it was still in Adelaide, not to worry as that terminology meant it was used as"holding,"but could atually be anywhere on it's way to the States! How convenient to have that excuse as a back up!LOL!
Well days went by, and nothing, the days turned into weeks,so I accessed Aus Post Tracking...absolutely nothing showing in holding in Adelaide!
By this time I was becoming rather "edgey" so into US Postal Service Website I go! This time it showed my envelope had left Adelaide Bravo! I was ecstatic until I saw where it had reached..none other than Madagscar, so it still had another14,267.9 kilometres to reach the US.
Still no word from my friends re arrival,(because it hadn't arrived ) so back into US POST I go, fully expecting to see "holding" US...No such luck! Where was my envelope? According to US Post it was now in "Holding" in Vancouver Ca. Hallelujah!! Instead of 14,267.90 kilometres to reach the US from Madaagascar,it had travelled 16,530.1507088, making a total to date of 25,371.3807088 kilometres since leaving Aus.with a further 2,454kilometres still to reach it's final destination in the US. Overall Total?...27,825.3807088 kilometres(yes that's how we spell it)What a well travelled envelope, if only it could speak..There must be a few stories it could tell! Oh yes, I nearly forgot.... It was finally delivered on January 6th!(should actually have been by Dec 10th! Not a bad effort for something that is supposed to be delivered in 4 days!
You may be sure I'll be a checkin'my ticket, before I hop on the plane next week..but there again it might be interesting to go to LA via Mawson ANTARCTICA LOL!
Oh and please forgive the spelling mistakes..I'm SO TIRED after doing all that TRAVELLING! YAWN
ReplyDeleteRosie, your comment (tale of woe of your traveling Express Document) cracked me up. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDon't you wish common sense was much more ... er ... common?

Congrats on your new upcoming web site, Robin--I'll look forward to seeing it! LOVE that cover of the Bride book---so lovely (and I definitely plan on purchasing it). ~ Am laughing so hard at Rosie's mail story (although I know how frustrating it can be trying to locate a package). Rosie, let's hope and pray you DON'T end up in Antarctica instead of the US when you travel soon! ~ Hugs, Patti Jo
ReplyDeleteLove that book cover, Robin, and with that great group of writers, I'm sure we'll have a terrific read!
ReplyDeleteAnd with all that techie knowledge of yours, I know the new website will be fantabulous!
I can't wait for A Bride for All Seasons! All four of you are great authors! And I agree I like the cover a lot more now!
