Then a day later (trying to remember exactly where I'd stood to take the picture above), I snapped this one…
What a difference a day makes! The same view––one dark and stormy, the other brilliant sunshine. Isn't that a pretty fair analogy for life and our oftentimes skewed perspective on things? When I look at these pictures, I think of what Paul said in I Corinthians 13:11-13…
"Now we see things imperfectly, like
puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything
with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I
will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely."
I look at the first picture and I'm reminded that this world is, as C.S. Lewis stated so aptly, the shadowlands. And when I look at the second, I think of what it will be like to someday have all the shadows of this world removed. To some day stand before the Lord Jesus and truly see him. With perfect clarity. In all his glory. And to spend all eternity getting to know the Father, the Son, and the Spirit better, exploring the infinite facets of their union, and the wonders of the new heaven and new earth. Talk about a changed perspective!
On those days when life seems especially challenging, or maybe when my spirit feels especially heavy, I head to God's Word and read about what our forever home is going to be like. I think of heaven quite often, more so as the years go by. Do you? What's something you look forward to about heaven? And do you think we'll "banquet" there together? I do. I'm so looking forward to kitchen time with my mom again, and with some of you gals too! Imagine what peach cobbler will taste like there...
So glad we're in this together, forever,
Tammy

Isn't it amazing that with "wings" like these, I didn't take flight!? Farrah Fawcett, God rest your precious soul, you were my girl crush back then.
Oh Tammy! What beautiful pictures you have posted. ! One could almost title the second one as, "A New Day,Has Dawned"!:) I realise tht I have used this phrase, once or twice before, but it is so apt!(well, I think so!
ReplyDeleteI am very in tune with 1 Corinthians Ch 13, as it was our school chapter and it was always read in Assembly or on Speech Day.
What a perfect example for us to take on board!:)
I'd love to banquet with you and sample your peach cobbler! Nothing could be better. In fact, just HEAVENLY! LOL!
Morning, Rosie! I love the "pun-lovin'" mood you're in. Praying for your flights and your travel, and I know that you're going to have a marvelous time at Kim's with everyone. Who knows, maybe Kim will even serve cobbler!?? ; )
ReplyDeleteThanks for your Prayers dear Tammy. I'm so excited I don't know whether I'm Arthur or Martha! I have to say packing is presenting a bit of a problem. We seem to be getting conflicting weather reports from the States, so now I'm relying on friends to tell us exatly what's what!LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh I meant to say that we are very much looking forward to staying at Kim's... that will be fantastic, but all the other things planned for our stay are simply amazing too! This will be one holiday we will NEVER forget! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Rosie. I *think* you're a wee bit excited about this trip. But I can't be sure... : )
ReplyDeleteMuch love, lady, and soak up every minute!
Love your senior portrait, Tammy. I was 7 years ahead of you with hair almost to my waist and straight.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I'm looking forward to more than anything when I get to heaven is being with Jesus, getting to see Him face to face. To me that will be so awesome. After that, being reunited with my loved ones. And, sampling your peach cobbler sounds like a great idea as well.
Wonderful post, sweet Tammy--and loved that analogy (and photos) you used. I've already thought that as soon as I reach Heaven, I first want to see and hug Jesus, of course. Then, my precious Mama and Daddy--oh my!! Yes, what a GLORIOUS reunion we'll all have there one day. (And the peach cobbler sounds yummy--and I also want to taste Mama's caramel icing again--the BEST!). Your senior picture is so precious (yes, I remember the "wings" back then--but at least your hair wasn't frizzy--I had such a time with mine then*sigh*). Thanks again for sharing today. Much Love, Patti Jo
