Teaching at ACFW 2013
Can you see why I love this conference so much? I wouldn't be published without it.
In the years since I published, my purpose for attending the conference switched to networking with my publisher, developing friendships with other authors, and giving back to the conference that has done so much for me. I make sure to volunteer in some capacity every year since my big break came through that serendipitous meeting during a volunteer activity. This year, I actually got to teach a session and give feedback on seven paid critiques. I love the chance to encourage new writers as well as learn more myself from other authors and industry professionals.
So just for fun, I thought I'd share some pictures with you from my weekend in Indy. Enjoy!
Things that make writing conferences fun:
Dressing Up for Genre Night - YeeHaw! (Yes, I'm the only one in this particular group geeky enough to dress up.)
Meeting Readers in Person
Getting the novella group together. 3 out of 4 of us were in Indy. Looking forward to our collection, A Match Made in Texas releasing in January.
Getting gussied up for the gala and having a photo op with my agent.
Getting together with a bunch of Bethany House authors and publishing staff.
For Readers . . . ever wanted to sneak into a ACFW conference and stalk you favorite authors? Who would you talk to and what would you say/ask?
